"At the current level of mature battery technology, rather than pursuing high specific energy blindly, it can also produce ideal electric vehicle products. For example, Japan's Toyota PriUS hybrid car, made of nickel-hydrogen batteries, had sold 10 million vehicles as of August last year, and sales have increased significantly this year. The battery specific energy of this product is only 50 MW/kg. Yang Yusheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at the "Third International Summit on Power Battery Applications 2018" (CBIS2018), held on November 8, that the development of electric vehicle safety is the first. Electric vehicles and power batteries depend on each other and promote each other, but they restrict each other. The development direction of power batteries should be synchronized with that of electric vehicles. Therefore, capacitive lithium iron phosphate power batteries will be the next generation of power batteries.
Reporter: Please give us a brief introduction about the development of China's electric vehicle technology.
Yang Yusheng: The "three longitudinal" route for the development of electric vehicles in China was originally pure electric, hybrid and fuel cell vehicles. Later, hybrid electric vehicles were replaced by plug-in vehicles. Later, plug-in vehicles were replaced by plug-in vehicles. This change took about 10 years.
For 10 years, I have been advocating the development of energy-saving and emission-reduction vehicles with safe and mature battery technology. In terms of technical route, one is to use micro-electric vehicles as a breakthrough point, and the other is to develop programmable products driven by pure electricity for mass products. Miniature electric vehicles can use lead-acid batteries as low-speed vehicles, or lithium-ion batteries as high-speed vehicles, depending on the market. Additional vehicle can solve the "five major anxiety" of pure electric vehicle, and it is one of the most feasible vehicles in the market.
In January this year, the new "three-longitudinal" model was added to replace the plug-in model in the old "three-longitudinal" model. In July this year, in the "Regulations on Investment Management in the Automobile Industry (Draft for Comments)", the program was added to the ranks of pure electric vehicles.
In the future, automobiles with new models will not burn oil or increase carbon dioxide emissions, but will be powered entirely by solar energy. The addition program is not a transition to pure electric vehicles, but the main force of future vehicles.
Especially important is that different development routes of electric vehicles require different power batteries and different requirements for the next generation of power battery technology.
Reporter: In your opinion, what is the next generation of power batteries under the pure electric vehicle route?
Yang Yusheng: The main contradiction in the development of electric vehicles is reflected in the battery - the contradiction between safety and specific energy. The safety of power batteries restricts the electric vehicle's mileage to "improve as you want", and the power batteries'endurance process in our country is increasing every year, or "aggressive".
